OneFamily.com to Unite Family and
Business at Family Business-to-Business
Portal Site
March 17, 2000: OneFamily.com announced today that it will focus
on uniting family, work and community life at its upcoming family
portal site. The Company will create a business community and
family portal that enables family-oriented buyers and sellers to easily
interact and engage in on-line commerce.
"As
we talk to people in communities across the country, it is clear
that people integrate their personal and business lives dramatically.
Our workdays and home life are increasingly blending together, and
we need to find ways that make this reality helpful, not stressful.
This is particularly true with small businesses who have historically
revolved around family, community and providing a human touch to
products and services," said Carol Fitzgerald, CEO and Co-Founder
of OneFamily.com.
According
to International Data Corporation, there will be 38.5 million small
businesses by 2002 with Internet transactions of $107 billion. Businesses
with fewer than 100 employees and income-generating home offices
increasingly rely on the Internet. "As people meet their business,
family and community needs via the Internet, the unification between
work and home, consumer and businessperson will grow strong. We
see significant market opportunity in providing an e-marketplace
specifically catering to these needs," Ms. Fitzgerald added.
OneFamily.com will connect families and small businesses to help
them improve their businesses and communities through content,
Web-based tools and on-line support. For example, the site will
balance business advice with health information and family vacation
planners with a small business exchange.
A national
sales network based in local communities will help enroll small
businesses and families into OneFamily.com and provide the invaluable
"human touch" needed to build long-lasting customer satisfaction
and retention.
